Montreal skyline at night from île Saint Hélène

Continuing on from the last few posts, today I have some final shots from my trip over to île Sainte-Hélène – I managed to get my money’s worth from my metro tickets 😉

Before getting to the main subject for today – the Montreal skyline at night – I have a shot taken on the Cosmos bridge, but rather than looking towards the Biosphère (as in yesterday’s post), this was taken looking toward the pont des îles and the Montreal Casino (a building I still need to shoot at night).

Again I decided to go for a long exposure in order to capture the ice flowing on the river as a blur.

After shooting the Biosphère I headed back down to Einstein avenue that runs parallel to the Saint Lawrence river and provides some great views of the Montréal skyline. I started next to the La Ville Imaginaire sculpture by Charters de Almeida which looks impressive at night when lit and was even more so with the thick snow.

With snow gently falling, it wasn’t the clearest of nights to shoot the skyline, but even so, I’m glad I spent a little extra time in the cold to get a few shots.

On the way back to the Metro station, I stopped to take a couple of shots of L’Homme sculpture by Alexander Calder.
