McGill campus in the snow

Montreal received another dumping of snow today and I managed to get out for a quick photowalk around McGill downtown campus early evening.

The campus was looking great under the fresh white coating, particularly the Macdonald Engineering Building which has recently undergone major roof renovations. I discovered that this building actually replaced the former Macdonald building that was destroyed by fire in 1907. Apparently on the south wall there’s a phoenix rising from the ashes carved on the south wall as a reminder of the fire and a symbol of rebirth…Something I have yet to photograph.

The view down from the Arts building was as impressive as always with the Ville Marie Christmas tree just visible at the end of McGill College avenue.

I headed across the McGill campus to rue McTavish and took a shot looking toward downtown from the steps just below the McTavish reservoir.

I took some more pics up on the McTavish Reservoir/Rutherford Park, but will save those for another post.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
