Québec City visit – part 1

I just spent a couple of days in Québec City and so for the next couple of posts I will be sharing some of the photo’s I took while up in the provincial Capital.

Before we arrived in the city, we made a stop at the Aquarium to primarily take some shots of the Pont de Québec that straddles the Saint Lawrence river, linking the North shore with the South shore.

The sun was casting some nice light on the other side of the Saint Lawrence at the mouth of the Chaudière river.

We didn’t enter the inside of the aquarium but did pass a few of the outdoor exhibits of sea lions, and seals. I only stopped though to take pictures of the beautiful arctic foxes. Although I had to shoot them through a glass window I was pretty pleased with the resulting shots – Now I want to go and photograph these in the wild 😉

I’ve never visited the Aquarium du Québec and will certainly make an effort to make a proper visit the next time I’m up in Québec City.

After arriving in the city, I took a quick photowalk, starting with the Fairmount le Château Frontenac and the Terrasse Dufferin…

Each winter there is a toboggan slide at the far end of the Terrasse Dufferin.

From the boardwalk you have a great view of the Quartier Petit Champlain below and the town of Levis on the other side of the river.

Being so close and still having a bit of time to spare before meeting up with friends, I headed down to the picturesque rue du Petit Champlain. I find this street looks great any time of the year, but is even more beatiful in winter under snow.

Still having time on my side, I walked around the corner to Place Royale and the Notre Dame des Victoires church. It is currently the light festival in Québec city and the façade of the church was illuminated with an animation.

I returned to the hotel via Côte de la Montagne stopping just below the stairs leading to the Château Frontenac to take the final picture of my first day visiting Québec City.

Unfortunately the weather was not as great for taking pictures during the rest of our trip but I will share a few more tommorow together with a few taken during our drive back along the scenic 138 between Québec City and Trois Rivières.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
