Aerial Silk performance

I was pretty poor at attending the numerous festivals that have taken place in and around the Place des Festivals over the past couple of months. I did however manage to get a few pictures while passing through at various times, but didn’t get to seriously shoot any actual stage performances (which I normally enjoy).

The main reason for my lame coverage of key events (such as: The International Jazz, Francofolies, Juste Pour Rire and the Montréal Complètement Cirque festivals) this year was due to me suffering from chronic back pain…A pretty weak excuse I know, but the thought of standing in huge crowds was not that appealing at the time.

Aerial silk performance

On July 2, I was walking through the Place des Festivals (during the Jazz Festval) and saw an acrobat climbing, falling, twisting and turning in the air with a large piece of red fabric. I believe the performance is known as Aerial silk.

With some wonderful clouds in the background and the striking red fabric together with her numerous poses made for some interesting photographs.

Juste Pour Rire festival

As with the Jazz festival, I only passed through the Place des Festivals during the day when the Just for Laughs festival was on. Although I didn’t catch any acts, there were quite a few interesting installations that caught my eye to photograph…

Since I will be on vacation for the next 2 weeks, I wanted to get caught up with sharing pictures taken to date.

So to finish, just a couple of vintage car shots taken outside Foufounes Électriques on Saint Catherine street east…

I often see this black customized Lincoln cruising around the Plateau – guess parking this beast (especially on the Plateau) is a pain.

Unfortunately this wasn’t available as a rental option for my forthcoming road trip, but probably would have cost an arm and a leg for gas.

While talking of road trips, the last shot is of the bus station on rue Berri. I still need to shoot this at night since the sign is pretty cool when lit. The good news is that construction will at last start again on the building above – which has been a concrete skeleton for something like 4 years.

So with that, I’m signing off for a few weeks. Hopefully when I’m back I’ll have some nice shots from Québec City and Charlevoix to share.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
