Experimenting with Pencil drawing effect

Since I was not able to get out with my camera today and I didn’t really have much in the way of non-shared images to post, I decided to have a play using TopazLabs Adjust and create a pseudo pencil drawing of a couple of images I took recently.

I recently saw some great images done by the architectural photographer John Cleave who I originally discovered when reading the book Architectural Photography by Norman McGrath. Cleave has published quite a few books on various cities in which he presents photographs that he has partly transformed into line drawings and water colors. I liked the look, so gave it a go myself.

Here is a first attempt using an HDR image I recently shot of The Word bookstore on rue Milton.

Another image that I tried the effect on was of the Syrian Greek Orthodox Church of St Nicolas on rue Notre-Dame est. With this shot, after converting to a line drawing I added a tonal effect…

I look forward to trying this on some more images in the future.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
