I had intended to go out shooting early this morning given it was such a beautiful bright start to the day, but I only managed to grab one shot on the way for my coffee on avenue du Parc. At this time of year the sun is low in the sky and shines directly up avenue du Parc at around 7.30.
Having only managed to get the above shot while I was out in the morning, I decided to go out again late afternoon and walked up rue Saint Denis. I’ve posted images of the large mural by Philippe Mastrocola on the corner of avenue Duluth before (Piano on the street and A few shots on Le Plateau), but each time there has been something in front. Today when I passed it was clear, so here is another shot of this colourful mural. I decided to shoot 3 brackets in order to bring out the faint reflection of the wall on the road.
Between avenue Duluth and rue Rachel on the east side of Saint Denis there is a section of stores and apartments with some wonderful brick work…
The light was begining to fade as I made my way south on Saint Laurent Boulevard, but I did stop for a few more shots.
The first is of the small diner Patati Patata on the corner of rue Rachel. I’ve not eaten here in a long time, but when I did the food was great and super affordable. I don’t think the outside (maybe the inside either) has changed in the 14 odd years I have known it.
I took a shot of the sign for Maison du Bifthèque Main Deli – great smoked meat sandwiches !
Despite so many vacant store fronts on boulevard Saint-Laurent, it’s good to see some of the old famed establishments are still in business. I did hear though that the famed bar/nightclub – The Gogo lounge – will be closing it’s doors permanently this weekend after 15 years.
My last shot for today is one that I nearly threw out but decided to work on it and was pretty happy how it came out in the end. I think it might look great framed in a light box 😉
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
