Following brunch today we walked up rue Berri from rue Roy est up to avenue du Mont-Royal.
Like many of the streets on Le Plateau, rue Berri is lined with duplex and triplex homes, many having the ubiquitous outside staircases and balconies.
Another aspect of the Plateau district is its’ magnetism for attracting artists and it’s not uncommon to find sculptures in the front of homes or in the many alleyways. I particularly like this figure sculpture made out of cut pieces of rebar.
Rue Berri also seems to be a great place to frequent if you happen to be a bird. I spotted these bird houses close to rue Roy…
And then there are these colourful bird houses in the alley adjacent to rue Berri near rue Rachel – which you may recall I have shared a photo of before.
If you are interested, Le Devoir recently had an interesting article on the outside staircases of Le Plateau.
A Photo Book in the works
On a side note, I’m currently putting the finishing touches to a photo book that will include my favorite shots taken during my 366 project in 2012. I hope to get a review copy next week prior to making it available to purchase in the Montreal in Pictures store soon after.
I’m also looking at some other publishing projects and will reveal more in the coming days.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
