Spring snow storm

Following on from my last post complaining that this year the first day of spring was met with rain, just 2 days later on Saturday, Montreal received a fresh 15cm of snow with the spring snow storm lasting into the early afternoon.

Many complain about the snow, but me, I prefer snow over rain, probably because I don’t have the chore of shovelling my front yard or digging my car out of a snow bank. It certainly makes for prettier pictures.

I took a few shots while the snow was coming down pretty heavily on the way for our habitual saturday morning brunch, which made for some nice atmospheric shots.

There are some great murals on the Habitations Jeanne-Mance that is situated in the block between rue Ontario/rue de Boisbriand and rue Saint Dominique/rue Sanguinet. I keep meaning to spend some time and photograph the numerous murals (and sculptures) that make this apartment complex an artistic oasis. Until I do, on saturday I did stop to get pictures of a couple while passing by.

I thought the Au fil de l’eau mural by Phillip Adams (completed in 2013) made a nice contrast to the snow in the foreground.

As I was shooting the mural, a seagull happened to fly into the shot. Luckily it didn’t try to make a water landing.

Another mural – Winter Haze (2009) by David Guinn & Phillip Adams – on boulevard de Maisonneuve also seemed appropriate to capture on a snowy day.

Despite the cold, Sunday was a glorious sun filled day and I will be sharing a few shots taken on Mount Royal in my next post.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
