June 20 2012
Well summer really did arrive today in Montreal, with thermometers climbing to over 32c (a new record) and with the humidity it was feeling like 40c.
Despite the hot conditions, I left the nice cool air conditioning for a walk up on Mount Royal, both this afternoon and again tonight for a picnic. So I think I got my exercise quota for the day.
The photo of the day was taken this evening just before the sun set over Lac aux Castors (Beaver Lake).
Even though I did lug my tripod both times with me up the mountain, rather than taking landscapes I ended up concentrating on shooting people enjoying the first day of summer…Okay, I did take a few HDR shots of Montreal skyline from the Kondiaronk Belvedere (I can never resist), but only sharing one that was taken around sunset. Since the sun sets over the other side of the mountain, this view is great for sunrises, but not so for sunsets – although for about 5 minutes just before the sunsets, some of the taller buildings glow orange. Unfortunately I missed my timing tonight.
The next set of images were taken during my first trip up the mountain at lunchtime.
Even at 8pm the temperature was still over 30c, but meant plenty of people out on Parc du Mount Royal enjoying the summer solstice evening.
Looks like it will be even hotter tomorrow 🙂 Hope you are having great weather wherever you are – even if down south and it’s winter 😉
