On Tuesday when I was walking back along Sherbrooke after photographing Westmount City Hall, I passed by the Museum of Fine Arts and thought I should head back one evening to shoot it at night. On my way there tonight, I had to also stop to shoot the Ritz Carlton which has recently reopened following a major renovation and conversion to the hotel/condo residence format.
The building was originally built in 1912 and the recent renovation has given a new lease of life to the ‘Grande Dame of Sherbrooke street’ (the nickname many refer to this Beaux Arts style building).
Speaking of Beaux Arts (nice lead-in I thought), the Musée des Beaux Arts is situated on the next block west along Sherbrooke street. I’ve shared some images of the exterior in other posts but this was the first time photographed it at night. It was rush hour so I couldn’t help have car trail lights in most shots…trail lights seem to be my obsession lately 😉
I really should visit this museum more often now the winter is closing in. There are a few free exhibits as well, so really no excuse not to visit if you are in the area.

Finally, Happy Thanksgiving to all those South of the border, hope you had a wonderful day with family and loved ones.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
