This summer sees the return for the third year of an art installation by Claude Cormier called “TOM” that takes up a large section of avenue du Musée next to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
TOM III consists of over 10,000 painted TOMs (Temporary Overlay Markers) attached to the road surface, and this year, the design invokes the ornamented works of the jeweller-artist Fabergé (which the museum is hosting an exhibition on this summer).
For the 2014 edition, the TOMs are installed back-to-back that gives the viewer a bi-directional view of pattern and contrast – so if you happen to pass by, be sure to take the time to walk up avenue du Musée and view from the north looking back toward Sherbrooke street.

It’s great the Dale Chihuly’s glass tree is still on display outside. However, the museum is currently trying to raise sufficient funds to keep “The Sun” in Montreal following the huge success last year of Chihuly’s exhibition (drawing over 277,000 visitors – the most for any exhibition in the last 10 years).
