Montreal was blessed with beautiful weather for Christmas day and I was glad to have a bit of time to get out to enjoy it and get some Mount Royal winter shots – Plus I got to work off some of the extra calories that have been consumed over the previous days 🙂
Although it was a nice day, I thought this guy was a bit underdressed in shorts and sandals on Mount Royal, but credit to him for taking a run on Christmas day…
We were not alone getting a breath of fresh air up on Mount Royal…
With the little ice rain we had on Sunday and the continued cold spell, Mount Royal has looked magical all week with the trees being covered in a thin layer of ice.
While on avenue du Parc, I noticed next to the cross, what looked like a section of a rainbow. I imagine the coloured light was formed by ice crystals in the air and the low sun. Maybe there’s a scientific name for this phenomenon, but I’ll just call it a mini-rainbow.
Boxing Day and some light snow
I also managed to get a few shots today. Rather than clear blue skies, the air was filled with nice fluffy snow flakes, perfect powder snow and made me wish I was out skiing, but a walk through Saint Louis Square was about as close I got to the country today.
The squirrels were out in force foraging for food, and this little guy was particularly inquisitive.
Having had the day off yesterday, the Montreal snow clearing and removal crews were out on the roads again today cleaning the streets and sidewalks after the storm last weekend.
I wanted to get a shot of one of the snow ploughs on avenue Laval, but having some of the light snow that was falling in focus rather than the plow and background. I will need to try this again when there’s more snow in the air 😉
I’m off to Québec City tomorrow and will be sharing some pics on my return.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
