After walking so far yesterday, I decided today to walk down the road to Place des Festivals and see if there was anything worth shooting.
But first, here is the shot I selected as the photo for day 44. It was taken just North of rue Ontario between the University de Quebec à Montréal (UQAM) and the Church of St. John the Evangelist.
Here is a shot taken in the opposite direction.
Okay, back to Place des Festivals. It appears that preparations are underway for the upcoming 13th Montréal en Lumière festival (MEL) that takes place between February 16 and 26.
It looks like there will be a fun toboggan slide during the festival that runs 110m down the steps from the Esplanade de la Place des Arts down on to rue Sainte Catherine. Here are some pics of the double slide.
Although the festival hasn’t opened yet, much of the lighting seems to be in place and with a number of stages being assembled looks like it will be a fun place to visit during the 10 day winter festival.
A striking feature of the recently renovated Esplanade de la Place des Arts are the funky “eye ball” lights.
This shot was taken from the front of the Esplanade de la Place des Arts (on the recently redesigned entrance to Place des Arts theatre entrance) looking west on Sainte Catherine.
Looking in the other direction towards the Théatre Maisonneuve
In front of the Esplanade de la Place des Arts is the shopping center Complex Desjardins. The blue lights from the Milk Urban slide can be seen reflected in the bottom right.
The final picture for today is of the newly opened Maison Symphonique de Montréal – the new home of the OSM (Orchestra symphonique de Montréal). I’ve yet to attend a performance in the hall, but hope to soon – and grab a few photos from the inside 😉
Here’s a gallery of the above images if you prefer to view in a slide show format.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
