I can’t believe it’s already June, but with the thermometer reading 29 degrees and feeling like 36 with the humidity factor, you could be forgiven to think it was July or August.
So I was somewhat surprised to find that one of my favorite parks in Montréal has yet to wake up from winter. Park La Fontaine with its 2 small lakes is always a great place to hang in summer, but today it was not the most idyllic venue.
The lakes were still empty, the main fountain still has its winter cover, kids water playgrounds were closed and there were no drinking water fountains in operation. I don’t know if this is normal for June 1st, but really, given the relatively short summer we have here, I don’t see why the City has to wait so long.
Despite this quite a few people were enjoying a stroll through some of the many tree lined pathways that criss-cross the park.
It was sad to see at the North East corner the amount of litter that had been left behind by recent partying visitors. Despite there being bins nearby, amazing how some people have absolutely no respect for the environment they live in…at least the seagulls were happy picking over the rubbish left behind.
Despite my little rant, I’m sure the park will soon be its usually wonderful summer-self.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
