I didn’t have much time to go photographing today so at the end of the afternoon I grabbed a couple of shots of the current outdoor photo exhibit on McGill College avenue. This is the seventh year that McCord have put on the outdoor event that runs for 4 month’s through the summer – this year it started on June 15 and ends October 14.
This year the exhibit features 25 photographs by landscape photographer, Alexander Henderson (1831-1913).
Henderson was born in Scotland but immigrated with his wife to Canada in 1855. They settled in Montreal, where he was a commission merchant. In 1857 he took up photography as an amateur and in 1866 gave up his business to open a photographic studio on Phillips square.
Henderson received a number of commissions to record the building of the railways in Canada and in 1892 accepted a full-time position with the Canadian Pacific Railway as manager of a new photographic department. His prints show breathtaking cross-Canadian scenery, from cities to the country.

While I had my camera out and I was standing right next to it, I shot the Danseuse sculpture and fountain by Zoya Niedermann. You may recall I shot this at night a few weeks back.
