For one reason or another, it’s been a while since I was out photographing at the magic blue hour, but tonight I had the urge to go and shoot a few HDR’s down in the old port. My main aim was to get a shot looking down rue Bonsecours towards the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel.

There was quite a bit of traffic and with fairly long exposures it was difficult (a) not to get run over while on my hands and knees in the road, and (b) not to get tail lights in the shot. I like tail lights, but this next image still needs some work in Photoshop to fix the ghosting caused by the tone mapping.

Just up from the Chapel is the wonderful Pierre du Calvet Auberge Restaurant. I highly recommend visiting if you ever find yourself in the area. The interior is stunning and there’s a great terrace at the back.

This next shot is looking west along rue Saint Paul. I wish I had noticed the bag of rubbish when taking the shot and didn’t have the time tonight to remove in Photoshop.

I took a few other shots around the area, but most were not as good as I had hoped, so will head back another time to try and get some better shots to share.

I did however stop to take a couple of Montreal skyline post sunset pics from the steps of Place Vauquelin leading to Champ de Mars.
