Project 365 – Day 169: An art inspired day on Le Plateau

June 17 2012

I took a walk around Parc Lafontaine this afternoon and the scene of people sitting enjoying the warm sunny day reminded me a little of a Monet painting. So using Lightroom and Topaz Adjust I tried giving it an impressionist look.

On the west side of the park at the Belvédère Léo-Ayotte are some metal chair sculptures by Québec artist Michel Goulet. I know of 3 other places with chair sculptures (I believe also by Goulet) and perhaps next week will do a posting showing them all. Today the area was not great for photographing due to the amount of trash, but I did grab one shot – partly to remind me to revisit.

Since it seemed I was in a bit of an arty mood, I also ended up shooting some murals along avenue Duluth, including a new MU installation called Lignes et Couleurs by Philippe Mastrocola on the corner of rue Saint Denis. Unfortunately cars were parked along most of it, so I concentrated on shooting just a small section.

The street sale on blvd Saint-Laurent was still in full swing and I grabbed a shot of a band entertaining the crowds.
