Feb 27 2012
Following up from my recent post on February 15, I decided to continue my quest to record Montreal’s Underground City (RÉSO) in pixels. So this morning I entered at Victoria Square on the corner of rue McGill/rue Saint-Jacques to shoot the section that runs up to Beaver Hall.
At the bottom of the escalators there is a short tunnel on the right hand side that leads to Centre de Commerce Mondial. The twisting tunnel makes this section quite unique within the RÉSO.
The following picture shows better the curved route taken by the tunnel – unfortunately 2 billboards located in the middle of the floor interrupt the line of view.
At the intersection of the tunnels for the Centre de Commerce Mondial and Tour de la Bourse, there is a circular area that leads to the exit and to the main tunnel towards Square Victoria Metro station and Beaver Hall.
Hanging from the ceiling is a decoration that I hardly noticed at the time, but the light reflected from it cast a nice pattern on the ceiling of the resulting HDR image.
Past the metro entrance, the tunnel continues up a slight gradient toward Beaver Hall.
Although I plan doing a more indepth study of Square Victoria and the surrounding International Quarter, here are a couple of pictures showing the main entrance to Square Victoria Metro station on the corner of McGill and Saint-Jacques.
