Feeling almost spring like outside, I took a short walk up rue Saint-Denis, thinking the numerous bars and cafés may have opened their terraces. Normally at this time of year if the temperature rises above zero, Montrealers celebrate the sight of the end of a frigid winter by filling up the outside terraces of bars and cafés. Maybe it was colder than I thought as hardly any terraces were open – I did come across one attempt to signal spring is on its way though.
With the lack of terrrace action, I decided to grab a few pictures of Plateau architecture. The following 2 pictures were taken on rue Rivard (1 street east of Saint Denis above rue Rachel). The street is very typical of the Plateau quarter with its rows of duplexes and triplexes with balconies and iconic outside staircases.
The NEON clothing store on Saint Denis has a great mural over the store front.
On the east side of Saint Denis on the corner of rue Rachel is an art-deco inspired building with some funky sculptures on the wall.
As a reminder that the clocks move forward 1 hour tonight, here is a pic of the clock over the door of the Mexx store on the corner of rue Rachel.
