It was a pity I didn’t take my camera with me this morning as the light was beautiful in the light falling snow…hopefully tomorrow will be the same conditions and I can get some nice shots.
I did however have a few shots that I took over the last few days sitting in Lightroom that I got to process today. They’re a bit all over the place in terms of subject matter,
I’ll begin with a shot of a squirrel that was taken on Monday afternoon in Parc Lafontaine. It happened to be quite a newsworthy subject given that some high-end restaurants have been given the green light to serve wild game on their menu. When I think of game, I imagine deer, wild boar and moose, but apparently squirrel and muskrat will also be offered up during the pilot study. The sun was close to setting when I passed by Square Saint-Louis and I was drawn by the multi-coloured buildings on the east side of rue Saint Denis.

Yesterday after I had taken some shots of the construction sites around the Bell Center, I wandered down towards Atwater Market and came across rue Coursol in the district of Saint-Henri. Unfortunately it was bin collection day and bins were strewn across the sidewalk so I only managed to get a shot from the center of the street. The architecture is quite similar to that found on the Plateau (which I am particularly fond of) and the close proximity to Atwater Market had me searching for ‘house for sale’ signs.

I’ve never really investigated Saint-Henri district in depth but I believe there are many treasures to be found and photographed, so I’ll try and head down to this part of town more often in the future.
There are a couple of road tunnels that lead under the Ville-Marie autoroute near the George-Vanier metro station which offer some nice photo opportunities. I took the tunnel that leads to rue Saint Marc and snapped the following 2 images (that you may have already seen over on my Instagram feed.

Speaking of Instagram, I was thrilled to learn last night that my image of the Château Frontenac team taken at the Ice Canoe challenge last Saturday was selected as 1 of 3 winning images and that I won a free visit to the Bota Bota spa….I may just wait for the weather to warm up a bit, although the outdoor hot tub does look inviting.
