Spiral staircase at Université de Montréal

I was planning on today’s post subject being about the Université de Montréal, but I ended up taking so many pictures during my visit there today, that I decided to split the post into two parts.

For today, I have simply concentrated on some images I took of one of the spiral staircases in the main building. I’ve seen pictures of the staircase on the web and it’s been a definite goal of mine to shoot it one day.

Happily that day was today. You may find the next images a little repetitive – which I apologize for in advance – but I shot from slightly different angles and ended up playing with looks in the processing, and decided to throw them all up here rather than trying to decide which few to show.

The first group were shot from the top looking down…

I then did a couple looking upwards, with me laying on my back – a good reason for going at a time when no-one else is on campus !

With it being a long weekend, the campus was very quiet. I would actually have liked to have some pictures with people on the staircase, so I guess I will go back another day during the week.

The Ernest Cormier Art Deco designed main building with its 16 floor tall domed tower is one of the jewels of Montreal and I will post some images of the main building tomorrow, but here is a view from the front for those of you not familiar with the UdeM.
