I’ve fallen a bit behind on posting shots from around Montreal, and so this week I hope to play catch up… again.
For today, I’ll begin with some photographs taken back on April 20, when I was up in Mile End, starting with some shots of the Saint Lawrence Warehouse on the corner of boulevard Saint Laurent and avenue Van Horne.
On the corner of Saint Laurent boulevard and rue de Bellechase is the lovely yellow building of L.Villeneuve, a supplier of wood, building and decorating materials that has been in business for around 138 years.
On the other side ofthe tunnel where avenue Van Horne passes overhead, I came across this graffiti van with Mini Wheat characters painted on it. One of them appeared to be telling the devil of a nearby mural to get his evil ass back in the van. It’s a shame I didn’t shoot a slightly wider angle to get the entire devil in, but you get the idea I hope.
Next, I passed by the popular flower store on rue Bernard (near rue Waverly) called Dragon Flowers. It’s known for the large number of bird cages hanging outside, but also the kindness and generosity of the owner, Tamey Lau. Her generosity to the local community was repaid last year following a fire in April that forced her to close the store until early this year. On hearing of the fire (that also caused damage to Lau’s apartment above), locals raised thousands of dollars to help her rebuild the business.
Last image for today is of the Fruiterie Mile End store on avenue du Parc…
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
