Lachine Canal’s Duck Spa

Yesterday I took a walk along the Lachine Canal, well, more of a slide rather than a walk, since the path resembled an ice rink. Still, it was a beautiful afternoon and I was happy to be able to slide my way from rue Mill to Atwater market.

The Lachine canal is completely frozen over at this time of the year, but I found a spot that was like a spa for ducks. Next to one of the locks a patch of water was literally filled to capacity with ducks taking a little winter swim.

Shooting from the bank gave a great overhead perspective…not sure if I’m alone, but the shape of the water hole almost looks like it could be the shape of a ducks head with its beak open?

It was amusing to watch ducks arrive and then stand patiently waiting for a spot to open and take the plunge…

I could almost hear them saying “The spa’s a bit busy today, good job those damn geese are down south on holiday” 😉

I tried a few different perspectives…

Just a shame that there was no fog rising from the water, to give it a true spa look 🙁

I did play around with Topaz Lens Effects to add some fog to the above shot for a bit of fun…

I’ll have a few more shots to share tomorrow from my walk along Lachine Canal, until then, thanks for stopping by.

Have a great weekend!
