Abandoned shopping trolley on ice

Continuing on from yesterday, today I have a few more shots from my walk along lachine canal on Thursday.

I’ve gone a bit abstract, with shots of a shopping trolley and a chair that have been abandoned in the Lachine Canal, and will likely be there until spring (if not longer).

While I have no respect for people who pollute the environment, the photographer inside me found the abandoned objects to be an interesting subject to shoot and document. Perhaps this will be the beginning of a photo series I can build on?

In addition to the nice shadows formed on the ice, I thought the snow extending from the trolley looked like spilt milk…here is another perspective.

The abandoned plastic chair was not as photogenic from the perspective that it didn’t cast an interesting shadow, but I found the fact it was so isolated and incarcerated in the ice a worthy subject to shoot.

I should have stopped and taken more of the area landscape as it’s changing remarkably fast due to the numerous condo developments going up in Griffintown. But I did grab a couple of views…

The last shots for today are some cropped images I took in quick succession of some shoppers at Atwater market. I decided to crop the heads since their faces were clearly shown and I also wanted to experiment with pairing images in this way.

I thought the fur coat made for a nice juxtaposition against the wood building and metal car.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
