As I mentioned in the last post, having a new job has caused me to fall behind on updating Montreal in Pictures on a regular basis, and I have quite a few still to share that were taken during October and November.
For today, I’ve collected some shots taken on Mount Royal. Since some date back to October, the colours of autumn were still showing strong.
I’ll begin with a shot taken on October 5 at the corner of avenue du Parc and avenue des Pins.
I already shared some shots in a previous post that I took the following day from the Kondiaronk and Camillien-Houde Belvédère’s, so I’ll skip to the 10th October when the autumn leaves were particularly stunning in their display of yellow, Orange and red with bit of green still in evidence.
Looking up toward the canopy of trees, the light in the leaves really contrast against the dark limbs of the trees’ branches.
The next time I visited Mount Royal on November 2, the autumn colours had vanished, except for the odd splash of yellow.
I was back on Mount Royal on the 15th and although most trees were now bare, I was surprised to still find a group of green trees.
There were quite a few people out enjoying the beautiful late autumn Saturday afternoon.
First snowfall of the 2014/15 winter season
In contrast, just 1 week later, Montreal received the first sign of winter with a light covering of snow on the 16th. It did make Square Saint Louis look Christmas card pretty.
Although it was only a very light covering and having had another little snow fall last Monday, it still makes me think this winter will be long one. But perhaps given the snow storms that hit the US last week, I shouldn’t be complaining – not yet anyway.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
