I took the metro across to Ile Sainte Hélène mid afternoon hoping that one of my favorite spots on the island would be in full autumn glory. The place I had in mind has two small lakes that are crossed by a couple of white bridges with the added attraction of a small waterfall feeding the bottom lake….always a good spot to shoot.
I was hoping there would be a bit more color on the trees surrounding the lake, but I still managed to get a few reasonable autumn shots.
I got a little carried away taking shots of one of the white bridges…
The small waterfall that feeds the bottom lake gave me an excuse to take some long exposures, although I didn’t have to pull out the ND filter.
On the way back to the metro I saw that there were some ominous clouds over the city,so headed up to the viewing point near the tower to grab some shots. Unfortunately the clouds had lost some of the magic by the time I got to the lookout. At least I managed to get some hint of sun rays filtering through to the city below.
While I was finishing off the post, Montreal was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 – not huge, but enough to shake the building and rattle the windows for a few seconds…hopefully no major damage caused and the Champlain bridge is still standing :-/ The best tweet I saw about the incident was “Quebec has finally separated”.
