June 12 2012
I left it a bit late going out today to find something to photograph, and by early afternoon the rain was coming down.
Despite the rain, I kept with my original plan and headed down to the Urban Forest public art installation at the McCord Museum on rue Sherbrooke. The Urban Forest features artificial turf, sparkling ribbon trees, a swing, a picnic area, a patio and public artwork – all in purple.
It wasn’t the best day or weather to really go and see the installation and I ended up having Prince’s Purple Rain playing in my head all day 🙂
On Wednesday’s between 6.30-7.30pm until September 12th there will be Forest Nights featuring local bands. With free entry to the Museum on Wednesday’s together with the outside terrace, I think I will be heading back soon under more enjoyable conditions 🙂
The Urban Forest event runs until September 30th, so if you are in Montreal between now and then, be sure to check out the McCord Museum and the summer Urban Forest event !!

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.

Love these colours !
Thanks Benoit – would have been better if the sun was shining though 😉
I think it looks really pretty in the rain — the purple is so vibrant. Will definitely have to check it out next time I’m in town, thanks!
My pleasure Katie. I didn’t get to shoot some of the other installations due to the heavy rain though..Seems like Wednesday evenings are a good time to visit, a little music and free entry to the museum 🙂
Hi Martin,
Purple has been my favorite color since I can remember. Half my closet is in purple, rooms and deco all over my house are in purple, the only flowers that are allowed to grow in my garden are purple … part of my hair is purple. So you can imagine how good I felt, and still feel, when I saw these pictures. Thanks for keeping your program even if it rained.

I’m pleased I was able to bring some more purple into your day Mireille 🙂
Beautiful pictures from a beautiful place. Glad I discovered your blog. I’ve added a link to this post to our own trip to Montreal blog (in Hebrew).
Thanks J & E for stopping by and adding a link 🙂 Hope you make it back to Montreal again soon !
