Like the saying goes “when it rains, it pours”, summertime in Montreal is one (or more) festival after another. The main events beginning today(now yesterday) was the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend launch with the annual Crescent and Peel street closings (among others) together with the opening night of the FrancoFolies festival.
Given the amount of images I shot, I’ve decided to split this post into 2 parts. Here is a quick peek at the happenings along Crescent and Peel for the F1 Grand Prix.
I spent a couple of hours checking out the action during the afternoon. Rue Peel is the quieter of the two with the highlight being 2 Bugatti Veyron’s on display.
The cars had their own security detail – I can imagine the owner/s didn’t want student’s covering their $2 million toy with red square stickers.
Whereas the Bugatti does like 8 mpg, the Li-ion Motors Wave and INIZIO electric cars are more eco friendly. Talking of electric cars, I was pleased to read the other day that Montreal is being considered by the World’s Auto governing body (FIA) as the perfect venue to host a proposed new electric car racing championship.
Here are a few more random shots from along Peel and Crescent streets.
A key attraction for many is of course the glamour booth babes…
The fun carries on through to Sunday, so I may pass by again, but there are a few other F1 themed streets I need to check out if I find the time. Now to wade through all the images from the FrancoFolies opening shows, so stay tuned for another post later.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.

Great shots here Martin, love the veyron photos, did you get to hear the engine?
Thanks Steve. Only heard the engine idling as they drove them away…not quite the sound it would make at 300mph 😉
