While the rest of Canada celebrate Victoria Day, in Quebec today marks National Patriots’ Day.
I thought there would be some events going on down in Old Montreal today. Maybe I was too early or just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but rue Saint Paul seemed to be just business as usual.
Patriots’ Day was introduced in 2003 to underline the importance of the struggle of the patriots of 1837–1838 for the national recognition of the Quebec people, for its political liberty and to obtain a democratic system of government.
Not seeing any kind of celebration, I decided to just try and capture early summer life along rue Saint Paul.
