I decided to visit Montreal’s Botanical Gardens today, only to find it’s closed on Monday’s (until May 15). Although I was unable to visit the greenhouses, access was possible to the Chinese and other themed gardens.
The Montreal Botanical Garden is ranked as one of the largest of its kind in the world and together with the Insectarium really provides too much to see in a single visit – particularly photographers. I was there a couple of hours and really only had time to visit the Chinese and Alpine Gardens in any great depth. With a collection of 22,000 plant species, 10 exhibition greenhouses and some thirty thematic gardens to see, I guess I will have to revisit.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.

i meant landed here to your blog only yesterday
and in a sense, landed in montreal for the first time again.
prolific you are!
and like erin zimmerman says below…with angles not yet seen.
Haha, and I thought you had just got off a plane 😉 I’ve been in Montreal 13 years and still discovering new places, not just angles. The good part behind starting this blog has been to open my eyes to new sights of this great city.
I actually work at the Montreal Botanical Garden and felt I’d viewed it from every possible angle. Still, your photos show some perspectives I haven’t seen. They’re lovely. The sky looks so eerie.
Hope you enjoyed your look around and can make it back to see the greenhouses.
Thanks Erin – It must be a wonderful place to work…I could spend weeks photographing there 🙂 so if they ever need a photographer keep me in mind 😉
