Continuing with some images I shot while down at the Old Port of Montreal on Tuesday, today I have some shots that were taken on the promenade next to rue de la Commune overlooking the Bassin de l’Horloge.

There was a train on the tracks below that gave a little added interest to the view

The first shot is looking west toward the bassin Bonsecours.

The next image shows the apartment building called Heritage du Vieux Port. Prior to being renovated into luxury apartments the building was a refrigeration warehouse. The apartment building was recently in the news when an investigation by Radio-Canada’s Enquête program uncovered the building as having apartments either owned or occupied in the last decade by around 20 persons with criminal records or ties to organized crime – a pretty high number for a single building.

I think I’ve told this story before, but when it was being renovated we spoke with a security guard who put us off looking at the condo’s when he mentioned the trains woke him in the night – “It sounds like someone firing a shotgun” were his exact words – Maybe it wasn’t the trains he heard afterall :-/

From the promenade you also get a nice view of the nearby clock tower…
