Back on May 8, I spent some time just south of Place du Canada in front of the Marriott Château Champlain hotel. With my last post containing images of the Courtyard Marriott, one may think I was working for the Marriott chain, unfortunately it was just a coincidence.
The elevated walkway over rue de la Gauchetière is one of my favourite spots to shoot downtown and I thought I would try a few different angles to those I normally end up shooting from this spot. I started with the staircase that leads up to the walkway. I liked how the small semi circular viewing platform mirrors the windows of the hotel.
The staircase provides for some great experimentation with angles and I was able to get the IBM Marathon tower framed within the opening. The staircase walls also provide for some nice reflections, particularly on a bright sunny day.
The next shot is not so much of a new angle, but you can never have too many shots of the wonderful Queen Mary of the World Cathedral.
It was fun experimenting with some different angles and it would be fun to revisit at a different time of day (or night) to see how the light and reflections differ to the above results.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
