Is it spring or summer ?
After a week of sun and temperatures in the 20′s spring has finally arrived. If it wasn’t for the trees being adorned in fresh spring leaves and blossom, you could have thought it was already summer
I would have liked to have gone out more than I did during the last week to shoot the almost overnight morphing from the bare brown winter trees to the green canopies of today. Alas, I only managed to get out to take some pics on Saturday – and that was pretty much restricted to the downtown core, but at least I managed to capture some shots with trees around Phillips Square.
I happened to notice that Anarchopanda has been ‘immortalized’ in a mural depicting him being confronted by the police. For those wondering who the hell Anarchopanda is….he was a leading figure in last years student demo’s. The mural is on the side of the Milk Bar building near rue du Berger.
I don’t recall shooting the sculpture – Le Malheureux Magnifique by Pierre Yves Angers – on the corner of rue Saint-Denis and Sherbrooke before, so here are a couple of shots. The sculpture was initially called “Sculpture en face” when it was entered into a student contest at the CEGEP du Vieux-Montréal in 1972 and was originally installed in Parc Pasteur. It was moved to its current location in 1981.

Project 365 – Day 109: Vintage Plymouth and flowers
April 18 2012
Another beautiful spring-like day in montreal, so I went flower hunting in the local neighborhood. Although I did capture a few flower shots, this old Plymouth was calling out to be photographed. Thankfully I had decided to bring along my tripod so was able to take some triple exposure for HDR processing.
Just up the street was this little guy standing in a front garden which I decided to shoot through the railings.
Okay, now some flowers. The last few days of warm weather has helped speed up the onset of spring. Except for knowing the first shot is of tulips, I have no idea of the names of the flowers/shrubs in the other pics – any green fingers out there care to share some knowledge?
