Storm clouds over Mount Royal

While I was out yesterday I noticed some cool storm clouds over Mount Royal. Luckily I had my camera with me and went up to Jeanne-Mance Park on Avenue du Parc to grab a couple of shots.

I tone mapped the images in order to bring out the details in the clouds while maintaining sufficient exposure in the foreground.

I took another set of 3 exposures from pretty much the same angle but went for a heavier contrast look in post-processing…

I waited a while hoping I could get some nice sun rays appearing from the gap in the clouds.

In fact the rays never appeared, so I had to cheat and added some using Photoshop Elements. I found a very easy method and will add a short tutorial in the near future.

There were quite a few people enjoying games of beach volleyball on the Milton Park Community volleyball courts. I tried taking some long exposure shots to add the sense of movement of the players, but probably should have gone with a tighter shot rather than wide angle.

On my way back down avenue du Parc, I saw a nice angle to shoot the balconies of an apartment building on avenue des Pins.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
