2014 McGill Convocation ceremony

I have a couple more pics to share that I took 2 weeks ago on June 4 (the same day as I visited Westmount Park and checked on the progress of the new MUHC). I was passing through the McGill University downtown campus that was in the midst of the summer 2014 McGill convocation ceremonies.

I was pretty worn out following my long walk to and back from NDG, so I only stopped to get a few images. For more of a taste of the McGill Convocation, I also grabbed some shots last year.

The first shot was taken from in front of the Arts building looking down toward McGill College Avenue. I decided to go for a long exposure (using an ND filter) to give some felling of the movement in the large crowd in attendance.

I hadn’t actually stepped inside the Arts building before, but I noticed a wonderful globe lamp just inside the foyer and thought it would make for a great shot from inside, looking out the main doorway.

Just before heading home, I stopped on rue Hutchison to get a shot of this typical house style found in the McGill Ghetto and Le Plateau.

A second addition to “The Crossing” series

You may have seen in May a shot that I shared of a composite of 6 images taken while crossing the street near the George Étienne Cartier Monument. I spotted an interesting group of men in suits crossing Sherbrooke Street and so tried the concept again.

I’ll continue to snap away at street crossings and hope to expand on this series over time.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
