A few night shots from downtown

Not having as much time to wander around town during the day, I’ve been limited to shooting at the weekends and at night.

For today’s post I have a collection of a few night shots taken over the course of the last couple of weeks.

Each year for the festive season, the trees down the centre of McGill College avenue are decorated in Christmas lights. This year it appears turquoise was the colour of choice…

McGill University has also got into the festive spirit with the trees lining the main road leading to McGill College Avenue being lit in red.

Another one of my favorite Christmas light decorations is Christ Church Cathedral with the numerous star shaped lights in the trees along Saint Catherine Street.

One night I happened to be near the Museum of Fine Arts which always looks nice lit up at night – Just a shame that The Sun by Dale Chihuly is no longer outside the front of the museum – being in storage for the winter –  but having recently been purchased by the museum with the funds collected from the public, it will be back in place next spring.

A little further east on Sherbrooke Street is the wonderful sculpture called Tenderness by Paul Lancz.

I imagine I will have quite a few more night shots to share over the coming weeks as I’ll try to capture more of the festive decorations around town.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.

    As usual, great stuff.

Beautiful Christmas lighting in my second hometown! I love your nighttime Montreal shots as much as your daytime images. I love strolling along avenue McGill College when its trees are strung with pretty lights. The turquoise lighting is my favorite!

Martin, I noticed in the Museum of Fine Arts photo that there’s a vertical banner for a Warhol exhibit. Would you happen to know how long that exhibit will be on display?

Thank you Chantale 🙂 I checked the dates for the Warhol exhibit and it runs until March 15, 2015…so plenty of time to catch it 😉
