Place Ville-Marie

The annual christmas tree was errected a few weeks ago at Place Ville-Marie – a sure sign that the holiday season is looming. I wasn’t planning to stop and take pictures here the other night since (1) I was running late for dinner, and (2) my fingers were getting numb from the sudden drop in temperature and it seemed particularly cold at Place Ville-Marie which seemed to be acting as a funnel for the strong biting wind.

But I thought, heck 5 minutes won’t hurt, so I grabbed a couple of shots while walking across the square from René-Lévesque boulevard to McGill College avenue.

The Femine Landscape sculpture by Gerald Gladstone is wonderful at any time of year, but I particularly like it in the winter. It was actually one of the first things I shot when I started my 366 project in 2012 when it was looking more like now than the last time I shot here in September.

No doubt I will be grabbing a few more shots of the sculpture/fountain over the coming winter months. Since they keep the fountain running over the winter there is often steam coming off the fountain and also some nice ice formations created on the sculpture.

I plan at some time in the coming weeks to document all the christmas decorations that adorn the sidewalks and buildings on avenue McGill College, something I attempted before, but think they could have been better, so we will see.

I actually shot here almost on the same date last year and revisiting the pictures I shot then, I must try to find some new angles when I next visit 😉

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
