A Claude Monet inspirational moment

To wrap up with the shots taken from my visit to île Sainte-Hélène last Thursday, today I have a few shots taken at a couple of the small lakes on the island.

One of my favorite spots is just below the Lévis tower where a couple of white bridges span the small lake. The bridges remind me a lot of Claude Monet’s “Bridge in Monets garden with white waterlilies” painting.

As a result, I couldn’t help but process one with a painterly look using Topaz Adjust

For those interested and don’t know the painting I refer to, you can chack it out over on The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York website.

Like Monet, who I believe painted 18 different views of the bridge in his garden at Giverny, I shot the bridges from various angles, here is another. Maybe one day I will research his 17 other pictures of the bridge and try to recreate some of them.

Unfortunately the lower lake was empty which was a shame since there is usually a nice waterfall flowing from the upper lake under one of the white bridges. Thankfully, there are some other nice waterfalls not far from the metro entrance near Alexander Calder’s L’Homme sculpture.
