Montréal’s section of the Berlin Wall

Since its fall on November 9 1989, segments of the Berlin Wall have found new homes around the world – either as gifts or purchased through auctions. One such section can be seen in the Centre de Commerce mondial de Montréal (Montreal World Trade Center).

The 2.75 tonnes, 3.6m x 1.2m segment (from near the Brandenburg Gate) was gifted by the city of Berlin to Montreal in 1992 for the city’s 350th anniversary celebration.
