Square Victoria

Another hot day in Montreal, so I was glad to have got a few shots down at Square Victoria early. Even at 9am it was feeling like nearly 40 degrees and I was tempted to cool off in the fountains.

One of the main attractions in the square is the Hector Guimard’s Parisian art nouveau metro entrance, The portico was a gift by the Régie autonome des transports parisiens (RATP) in 1967 to commemorate the collaboration of French and Canadian engineers in building the metro. It’s the only authentic Guimard entrance in use on a metro station outside Paris.

Another feature of the square is the monument to Queen Victoria…

On days like these, the numerous trees offer some welcome shade to take a break on one of the many benches and relax to the sound of the water fountains that run through the center of the park.

New Montreal in Pictures T Shirt design

One of the reasons why I decided to go shoot at Square Victoria was to try and get some shots for a tee shirt design as I thought the Guimard entrance could make for a nice graphic – but not sure I managed to get the shot I was really looking for. Anyway…talking of T-shirts , I did add a new design to the Montreal in Pictures Cafe Press store earlier today…The Farine Five Roses neon sign:

This design is available on light and dark T’s, hoodies and sweats for both men and women and prices start at a reasonable 15$. Visit CafePress.

I seem to be having a few issues linking to the store – sometimes it works, other times it goes to the CafePress main site. If you want to take a browse around but encounter the same problem, the link is http://www.cafepress.ca/montrealinpictures

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
