Boats and Stilt walkers in the Old Port

It was a perfect day to go for a walk down in the Old Port today.

There is currently the Eureka exhibition on, so the Vieux Port de Montréal was pretty busy. We didn’t venture into the exhibit area, deciding to just stroll along the promenade instead.

There was a beautiful motor cruiser with wooden decking and trim.

Entertaining the crowds next to the marina were a pair of stilt walkers in some pretty cool costumes.

I decided to shoot them with a wide angle from a low point of view. Shooting in manual mode I tried to get the feeling of movement by shooting a slightly slower shutter speed…It didn’t really work as I had intended, but given the costumes were so cool, I worked the images a bit in Lightroom and Topaz Adjust to make them appear a bit more arty.

One of Trey Ratcliff’s Lightroom presets is called Steampunk Afternoon (which I think he developed after his Burning Man trips). I’ve never found any of my images suit the steampunk look, but since the entertainers had a bit of a steampunk style, I went for it.

Accompanying the stilt walkers was another entertainer who was also in a great costume.

I’m not sure who the entertainers were and whether or not they were Cirque du Soleil performers, so if anyone knows, do share 😉

Just back from my first visit to the Francofolies, so hope to have a few concert shots to share tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time.
