100 body bags at Place des Arts

This weekend Quartier des Spectacles was the setting of a public performance by 100 members of the artistic group Un et Un Font Mille who zipped themselves into white body bags and formed themselves into groups of statues at 6 venues throughout the Quartier des Spectacles. The presentation was appropriately titled: Les Emballés (The Wrapped) – POESIS 1.

Un et Un Font Mille promotes theater, drama and poetry in Québec.

I happened to be passing through Quartier des Spectacles yesterday evening when a group were standing on the corner of rue Sainte-Catherine and rue Jeanne-Mance.

At the corner of Jeanne-Mance and Maisonneuve another 2 body bags were sitting on a bench.

The reason of a dry Parc La Fontaine

In a follow up to yesterday’s post regarding the lack of water in the lakes at Parc La Fontaine, I was kindly informed as to the reason. Apparently due to the high growth of algae in the past years, the City decided to take appropriate action prior to filling the lakes this year to control future growth by installing a new filtration system. Work commenced in the spring, so hopefully the lakes will soon be looking better than they for many years.

A similar situation was occurring at Lac aux Castors on Mount Royal. Lac aux Castors had a greater problem though, in that it was losing most of its water each day and so last yer major renovation work was started to effectively rebuild the surrounds of the lake. Work is still underway, but is looking close to completion, although I don’t know when they intend to fill it with water.
