Project 365 – Day 308: The Illuminated Crowd at night

November 3 2012

I had planned to shoot the Place Ville Marie Christmas decoration which was erected at the end of last week, but they haven’t switched the lights on yet – so that’s one for next week 🙂

Not knowing where else to go, I headed back up McGill College avenue.

Although I photographed The Illuminated Crowd sculpture by British artist Raymond Mason back in March, I’ve never photographed it at night.

I’d noticed on Friday that they had put up the Christmas lights in the trees on avenue McGill College next to the sculpture outside the BNP Paribas building and so it seemed like a good reason and timing to shoot the sculpture again.

This next angle was almost a direct repeat of the photo of the day I posted in March, but really liked how it came out at night with the windows lit in the office towering above.

I took a few shots where I used my flash light to illuminate part of the sculpture during the exposure.

It looks like there won’t be rain tomorrow, but even with putting the clocks back tonight, I think I will be enjoying the extra hour in bed 🙂

Love the lighting in these shots– that sculpture had always intrigued me. Looking forward to the Xmas light photos; such a pretty time in the city:)

Thank you Katie..I do like shooting this particular sculpture as there are so many emotions portrayed in each of the figures. Having had what seems like a week of rain and grey skies, I’m ready for some snow and Christmas cheer and look forward to shooting the Christmas decorations as they go up over town 🙂
