Project 365 – Day 252: Lady Gaga’s Fame perfume window display at La Baie

I mentioned the other day seeing La Baie department store had a new window display for Lady Gaga’s new perfume Fame, so today I went down and grabbed some pics of the display. It probably would have been better to wait until it was dark to cut down the reflection problem, but I decided to go ahead and shoot with the lens pressed against the window.

Due to there not being a lot of distance between the window and the display I used a wide angle lens to try and get as much of the display in frame as possible. Unfortunately I don’t have a polarizing filter for the wide angle, so there are still some odd reflections in places.

I’m not sure if this display is a standard window display for the Lady Gaga perfume or if it’s unique to the Bay department store. Whatever, I think it’s a great display and given I wasn’t the only person snapping shots of the window (not something you often see happening for window displays on a Saturday afternoon), I guess it’s drawing the attraction intended.

All the pictures are 3 exposure HDR’s merged using Photomatix and then further processed in Lightroom.

If you read yesterday’s post, you know I purchased some Lightroom presets by Trey Ratcliff. I used the preset The Navigator for the following shot which I thought worked really well for the composition and subject.

I was probably drawn to the display because my dad was a pharmacist and have always liked the old glass medicine bottles. The perfume is quite advanced in that in liquid form the perfume is black but turns clear when airborn – probably part of the reason behind the chemical inspired display – no such question needed regarding the S&M looking mannequins…very Gagaesque.
