Project 365 – Day 247: Palais des Congrès de Montréal

September 3 2012

It was a beautiful day in Montreal today, made even better by the fact it was a public holiday. We decided to take a wander around Old Montreal and stopped by the Palais des Congrès.

The Palais des Congrès was completed in 2003 and is probably best known for the large multi-colored glass wall at the western end of the buildiing. Designed by Canadian architect Hal Ingberg, the glass floods the interior entrance hall with a mosaic of color which changes through the day as the sun moves across the sky.

But the show of bright color is not only contained within the congress center. On bright sunny days like today, the colors are reflected on to the glass entrance of the RÉSO across the street.

Although I already posted a few pictures of the inside of the congress center in the first week of this 365 project, I don’t think a few more shots will be overkill of this wonderful architectural attraction. I would love to shoot a time lapse through the entire day to show the light movement…I guess that will require prior clearance.
