Tonight marked Portugal’s ninth participation in L’International des Feux Loto-Québec and the fourth time Portuguese pyrotechnic company Grupo Luso Pirotecnia has represented their country at the annual Montreal event. Their theme for this year was titled Fire and Soul.
I shot tonight’s show from the Old Port next to the marina. The crowds didn’t seem as big tonight, maybe due to the threatening clouds (though it didn’t rain), or the fact it is currently construction vacation time. Anyway, I wasn’t complaining and managed to get a good spot next to the railing overlooking the marina.
Once again I tried to pull the focus during the exposure on some shots and was quite happy how some came out.
I was pretty happy with how the shooting went tonight and ended up taking about half the shots I normally do and there weren’t too many complete basket cases – even without the remote trigger. Hopefully it wasn’t a flash in the pan and the remaining couple of displays will go as well as tonight.
I need to work on my video taking and editing skills though I thought I would try holding the ear piece of my radio to the built-in mic on the camera, but that didn’t work too well. I should check to see if there is a way to connect an external player to the D7000 – anyone have any thoughts?
Next up will be Italy on Friday.
