Project 365 – Day 56: Vintage stores on blvd Saint-Laurent

Feb 25 2012

With snow still coming down hard and wind gusting to 50km per hour this morning, taking pictures outside was not something I really fancied. So instead, I visited 4 great vintage stores on boulevard Saint-Laurent. The stores are all situated next to each other on the west side just south of avenue Duluth.

Kitsch’n Swell and the more recent Rokokonut are under the same management and sell vintage clothing and items from the 40’s to the 80’s.

Rokokonut seem to have a thing for naked Barbies, having them placed around the store, including this one caught by the bear over the door.

Kitsch’n Swell next door sells a wide assortment of vintage items from bowling balls and shoes to  household items.

Next door to Kitsch’n Swell is Cul-de-Sac, that sells mainly vintage clothes and has a good selection of bags.

The oldest store of the 4 is Friperie St-Laurent that specializes in North American vintage clothing.

I always find these stores a refreshing change to the ubiquitous high street chain stores – andhardly anthing with a made in China tag.
